In the Shadows, For His Glory

“For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function… We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us.” (Rom. 12:4,6) This truth was highlighted especially for the Production Team during the ABBA Eliseos Conference. Their work might look different from a powerful, moving sermon. Or even an exciting, Holy Spirit led praise session. Yet, it is still very much a work that has one unifying purpose. To glorify God most high.

The effort that’s necessary to run a production is often invisible to those in the seats. Even before participants entered the room, the team was adjusting lights, setting up lyrics, testing audio equipment, and double checking sermon slides, working behind the scenes. However, that doesn’t make their work any less important. Without their dedication, it would be much more difficult for the congregation to be blessed by the Word, join together in worship, or even see the faces of their brothers and sisters in Christ. And ultimately, that is the role that the production team plays. To create and support an environment that allows God’s people to worship Him freely.

Though the work is often overlooked and can even be seen as unnecessary to some, the heart of a servant doesn’t care about any of that. To serve the Lord is a joy and a privilege. For “whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters… it is the Lord Christ you are serving.” (Colossians 3:23-24) True joy in serving doesn’t come from recognition of man. It comes from knowing that each member has been called by God to serve Him and join Him in bringing His people together in worship. By the grace of God and humble service of the Production Team, the ABBA Eliseos Conference was truly a place of worship and unity for all those who attended. Glory be to God!
