Where Does My Help Come From?

If one were to look at this house made of mud bricks in the rural town of Coror, Peru, the physical eyes would behold sheets of plastic and tin covering the door and window openings to keep the draft out, a stairway to connect the main level to the second floor in sore need of skilled hands to complete them, and the absence of a kitchen. However, through spiritual eyes, all of this reflects the heart of a father by the name of Damian. The construction and renovations Damian had started on his home for his beautiful wife and three children were put on hold when their youngest son, Elmer, was diagnosed with a congenital kidney disease. Damian shifted his attention and devoted two and half years to regularly take Elmer to the hospital in Cusco city, hours away, for treatment.

On August 24, 2020, due to a tragic accident, Damian was caught in a wild mountain fire and passed away. His wife, Beatriz, is struggling to fill her husband’s shoes to provide for her children, but deals with health problems herself. We are trusting God will give her strength to overcome this time of great loss and are praying for a sponsor who will come alongside this family to be a channel of God’s blessing and comfort and help them press onward with hope.

UPDATE (11/10/2020): Last month, we shared a story about a family who faced the tragic loss of their beloved husband and father. Just a couple weeks later, we received love offerings from sponsors whose hearts were touched by God to respond to the need of this family – God is faithful! The mother, Sister Beatriz, was able to repay the loan that was taken out for her husband’s funeral expenses and bought some clothes and a chicken and two lambs for her children. By God’s grace, her health has also been recovering. The children dearly miss their earthly father, but we trust the faith they have that their Heavenly Father is always watching over them has grown through the expression and gift of love from their sponsors in Christ!
