Father to the Orphans

“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress…”
James 1:27

Mom. Dad. Such simple words, yet they carry tremendous significance. Many of us have taken being able to say these two words for granted. Amongst our COJ partner churches, there are children who have grown up without having such a privilege and some of them faced extra challenges during this current pandemic.

Bertha, 11

Bertha (right), 11, and her five siblings don’t have a mom. Their dad was unable to make ends meet for the family and were in need of food and clothing. Bertha didn’t have access to internet all throughout last year and wasn’t able to keep up with her studies.

Estani, 15

Estani is 15 years old and he was abandoned by his parents at a young age. He has since then been living with his grandmother. He strongly desires to find his mom in the future. He was in need of school supplies to help him continue in his studies.

Baymar, 6

Baymar is 6 years old and like Estani, he was also abandoned by his parents, left in the care of his grandmother. They were in need of food and clothing and also didn’t have enough to cover expenses for Baymar’s school supplies.

Taylor, 7

Taylor is 7 years old. His dad abandoned him and his mom, who has some disabilities. He cries sometimes when he sees other children who have dads. He and his mom were in need of food, clothing, and school supplies especially during this terrible pandemic.

God has charged his church to look after those in need, especially the orphans. It is only through the generous giving of faithful sponsors and partners in the ministry that we are able to continue helping children like Bertha, Estani, Baymar and Taylor and express to them His heart– that He is their Abba daddy who is always with them and loves them so dearly. How great our Heavenly Father is! Thank you for being the channel of His love to these children!
